Optical crystal is the purest form of glass available. It contains no mineral content and thus is crystal clear, unlike common glass. Optical crystal is what camera, microscope, and telescope lenses are made of. Unlike leaded crystal (which contains up to 24% lead oxide), optical crystal is environmentally friendly and will not pollute the environment.
Optical crystal IS glass. The difference is that the mineral content of optical crystal is removed, resulting in a very pure, very clear and colorless type of glass.
Yes, we do a lot of this. If the building is new, the architect will have the 3D CAD files we need for this. If the building is older, we will need to create a 3D drawing of the building at additional cost. Browse the Buildings category for examples of buildings we’ve put in crystal.
We focus the laser so that the laser beam comes to the focal point inside the crystal. The energy of the laser beam is concentrated so that a tiny spot is created inside the glass. This process is repeated many tens of thousands of times to create your 3D image.
